With the advent of the Internet, online games have been played over computer networks. Over the year, the online gaming has expanded and provided a large influence to the overall expansion computer networks from the popular growth of Internet access itself and the local networks to the Internet.

The rising popularity of flash and java and internet revolution made video streaming, audio streaming, and a whole new set of user interactivity possible. When Microsoft began including flash players as a pre-installed component of “internet explorer”, the Internet shift from a data/information source to also offer on-demand entertainment.

When flash players were included into the internet explorers, it gave way for web sites to offer games to the web surfers. World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XI and Lineage II are among the most popular online games to date.

Because of the growing access to broadband internet, gamers can play there favorite online role playing games from the comfort of their own home while interacting with the other gamers even without meeting them yet.
Here are some advantages and disadvantages of playing online games at home:
Pros
Online games provide privacy. Online gaming can be played at home rather than go to internet cafs with other people lining up just to play the same game.
Online games are cheaper. Because you can play from the comfort of your own home, you can play for as long as you can without paying for large amounts in the internet cafs.
Online games are safe. Online gamers need not to go out of their homes so as to guarantee safety. You also need not to reveal your true identity to other players while maintaining interaction with them.
Cons
Online games are time consuming. These games are quite competitive and one needs time to think of strategies and accomplishing their goals. They also need to spend large amounts of time to keep up with other players.
Online games lessen social interaction. Because of the large amount of time players spend in front of the computer and interacting with other gamers mostly through chat, they become impersonal in dealing with people. They would rather spend the entire day interacting through chat than actually meeting and talking to individuals in person.
Online games can cause eye strain and head ache. While most online games are fun to play with, they can become very addictive to the majority of players. Spending large amounts of time in front of the monitor not only prove to be eye straining but can cause prolonged head ache even if they stop playing the game.

Scam Affects Online Dating. Man in Canada gets Last Laugh
By Hary Davidson
There are very few people left in the modern world who have not opened an enticing email claiming that they have won an international lottery or offering a percentage of a large amount of escrow capital. Often, these types of dishonest solicitations originate in Nigeria where scamming Westerners is a huge industry. The variety of ways in which such scams are perpetrated is seemingly endless, and it was interesting and saddening to hear a story of one such scam the started as a man took his first step into online dating in Canada.
A recently divorced individual from Ontario was lonely one night, and he decided to see what all the commotion surrounding internet dating in Canada was all about. He was lonely and looking for a bit of companionship to get him through the long and lonely winter. After spending hours going through all the big online dating companies, he finally picked one and paid his money to join. It did not take long before he got an encouraging message from a cute lady who claimed to live several hundred miles away. The man was excited to get any attention, but he found it strange that a fellow Canadian would have such poor grammar and English skills. It was soon forgotten when his online friend’s son got into a terrible accident overseas.
Many of us are very sympathetic, but the man in our story was well-versed in all the ways that people try to steal money from others. Through some research and a few pointed questions, he was able to find out that his new acquaintance was actually logging on to a computer in Lagos, Nigeria. Understanding that country’s reputation for scams, he decided to turn the tables on this lady, and he acted like he was going to send her money. It took several weeks before the perpetrator realized she was the one getting scammed, and in the process she wasted countless hours and real money on internet fees.
Fortunately, this story does have a happy ending. Although our protagonist was initially disillusioned with online dating in Canada, he got back on the horse and found the free dating website http://www.kisscafe.com. While everything on this site is at no cost to members, he was especially fond of the video-chat function - the website he was almost scammed on did not have this option. Now, before he even starts talking seriously with anyone, he hits them up on video-chat to make sure they are who they claim they are. This is a great way to stay protected if one is online dating in Canada.
Of course, most people who are dating online in Canada are legitimate singles looking for love. KissCafe is a community of individuals who look after each other, and it is clean of nefarious practices like deception and scamming. In general, dating in Canada is safe and fun, but people must always be aware of who they are dealing with on the internet.

Do You Really Understand The Basics of Website Traffic?
By Warren Little
There are lots of terms used in internet marketing that are foreign to those new to online business. The truth is even those have been around awhile may still need clarity on the critical terminology used when talking about website traffic. Let me begin by asking you this,
Do you know the difference between hits and visitors on your site?
Are you able to interpret the figures when you see your web traffic statistics? Let’s say that you have had 10 visitors and 600 hits? Ramping up your website traffic can be very complicated if you don’t know what all the terms mean. But after you understand the concept, your stats will be much easier to read & thus your internet marketing business in a position to grow
First of all, you will need to have a good counter installed on your website. Some web hosts come with a web counter pre-installed, though you might want to find a new one. Most counters are quite easy to install, using copy and paste HTML style. While a host-based stats system will provide you with all your stats right there on your web site, you will need to use the stats of an outside counter. There, you can set up all you need for each website or blog that you operate and monitor your stats.
Now that you have a good statistic counter, you need to know what all those graphics and numbers mean. The best way to do this is to first find out the terminology used. Then you can start looking at the numbers.

Website Hits. These are the number of objects that have been loaded onto a browser. This means that if you have ten objects on your page, plus the HTML file, you will register 22 hits every time someone looks at that page. An object can be anything from a picture or graphic to a widget or text box. Most web pages have several objects, some have thousands! So, hits are not the indication of how many people actually visited your website.
Website Visitors. A visitor is someone who looks at your site and receives a cookie to mark them. That way you will know if they are a return visitor (someone coming back to take a second look) or a unique visitor. browsers that don’t allow cookies will register as a unique visitor each time the person returns to your page.
Page Visits. These are how many times people have arrived at your site. They may be visits from a returning visitors or unique ones. Therefore, the visits number can be much higher than your visitors, especially if you have a blog that is updated often.
Page Views. Page views differ from hits in that they only register the page as a whole. So if someone looks through your home page which has 20 objects, it would only appear as one page view, whereas it would show 20 hits every time someone looks at your web page.
Here are some more terms that are helpful to know, if your stat counter is able to give them to you.
Referral Site: This will tell you know how people are finding your website. If they are clicking through from a forum that you posted on or a search engine. It is good to see if your back links are working.
Main Entry Page: Your stat counter may show you what pages your visitors arrived on. Although we usually think of the home page as the entry page, it is not always so. Many times, when an interior page is indexed on a search engine, a relevant search will turn up only that page and send visitors directly to an article or catalog page. Knowing where people are coming to your website allows you to adjust the pages.
Exit Page: This is the page people are leaving your website from. Are they running for the hills when they go to your sales page? Maybe you might need to tweak it. Changing the pages that people usually click away from is a good way to keep your visitors longer.
Now that you know the basics of your website traffic, it will be easier to fix your website. Knowing when and where visitors are entering and exiting will help you make your site more efficient and useful, and in the long run, earn you more money online.
Authors note:One of the biggest reasons people fail to make money online is the inability to manage the overwhelm of all the necessary tasks to be successful. You don’t have to be a statistic.Learning to effectively work with virtual assistants has revolutionized my entire life & business. Even traffic generation can be outsourced.
